When severe heart failure leads to cardiogenic shock, every second matters.

This is the story of one patient’s journey. From the moment their heart could no longer pump enough blood to sustain their body, to the utilization of ECMO to support circulation and Impella to reduce the workload of their heart, then ultimately deciding to proceed with a heart transplant.

While awaiting a suitable donor heart, the medical team closely monitored the patient’s condition around the clock, always ready for the moment the right heart became available.

As a suitable donor heart became available, the surgical team traveled to retrieve it and returned to perform the transplant as quickly as possible.
