Bumrungrad hosted workshop: Master Techniques in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The Eye Center at Bumrungrad International Hospital, led by Dr. Nattawut Wanumkarng, an ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery, along with the center’s ophthalmologist team, recently hosted an annual academic meeting on Techniques in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Held from 4–5, July, 2015, the workshop was honored to host speakers Prof. Don O. Kikkawa, M.D., Chief Division of Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of California, San Diego (UCSD); Assoc. Prof. Bobby S. Korn, M.D., Ph.D., UCSD Shiley Eye Institute; and Assoc. Prof. Pete Setabutr, M.D. University of Illinois, Chicago. 
 
 
 
 
The lecture on 4 July 2015, hosted at Bumrungrad International Hospital, was on Endoscopic Lacrimal Surgery, Orbital Surgery, Eyelid Surgery, and Eyebrow and Endoscopic Eyebrow and Forehead Surgery. The lecture-workshop on 5 July 2015, held at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, comprised a Cadaveric Demonstration and hands-on workshop.
               
There were 250 participants including ophthalmologists, residents, and specialists in oculoplastic surgery from all over the country attending the workshop.

Minister of Public Health visits Bumrungrad International to observe effective MERS-CoV management
Prof. Dr. Rajata Rajatanavin, the Minister of Public Health, along with a team of senior executives of the Ministry of Public Health, visited Bumrungrad International Hospital to observe the protocols in place for monitoring and preventing MERS-CoV. The Chief Executive Officer of Bumrungrad, and a team of executives welcomed the officials, providing a summary report of the hospital’s MERS-CoV management system.
               
The senior executives of the Ministry of Public Health observed the measures taken to monitor and screen for the virus in every detail. They also visited a special screening clinic to see a demonstration of the strict protocols for when suspect patients arrive at the hospital.
               
Afterwards, the Minister of Public Health handed out bouquets and thanked the doctors for carrying out the roles thoroughly, also mentioning the hospital’s employees for their strict observance of protocols in monitoring MERS-CoV.
      
Additionally, the Minister of Public Health praised Bumrungrad International Hospital for its efficient MERS-CoV management, noting that it’s ranked the ninth-best hospital in the world.
