Bumrungrad Spine Institute, in Collaboration with St. Anna Hospital, Germany, Hosts the 58th International Endoscopic Spine Surgery Workshop, Reinforcing Leadership in Medical Innovation

The Bumrungrad Spine Institute and Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation, in collaboration with St. Anna Hospital, Germany, recently organized the 58th International Training Course of Endoscopic Operation of the Lumbar, Thoracic and Cervical Spine. This marks the 18th year that the hands-on workshop has been conducted for Thai and international spine surgeons to enhance their knowledge, skills, and surgical expertise in full-endoscopic techniques, a modern minimally invasive surgery (MIS) approach that helps reduce incision size, minimize postoperative pain and complications, and shorten recovery time.

The event was honored by the presence of the executives including Artirat Charukitpipat, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Bumrungrad International Hospital, and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Taveesin Tanprayoon, Chief Medical Officer of Bumrungrad International Hospital. They were joined by the Bumrungrad Spine Institute medical team led by Dr. Verapan Kuansongtham, Director of the Bumrungrad Spine Institute, Prof.Dr.med. Sebastian Ruetten, Director of the Center for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery of the St. Elisabeth Group and Chief Physician of the Center for Spinal Surgery and Pain Therapy, and Dr.med. Martin Komp, Senior Physician of the Center for Spinal Surgery and Pain Therapy at St. Anna Hospital, Germany. More than 100 spine surgeons from over nine countries participated in the workshop held at JW Marriott Bangkok recently.

The workshop was designed with a strong emphasis on practical application, enabling participating surgeons to develop their skills through hands-on laboratory training and close interaction with expert faculty. Over the years, the program has continuously evolved from covering fundamental techniques to advanced procedures, including the management of complex complications and optimization of long-term treatment outcomes. This initiative represents another significant milestone in the collaboration between leading medical institutions in Thailand and Germany, contributing to further advancement in the field of spine surgery.
