Bumrungrad International Hospital implemented a successful model of the International Referral Office with the opening of Bumrungrad’s Phuket Refererral Office, which services the Thai domestic market. The opening of the new Referral Office marked the first time such a facility was located domestically. It serves the people of Phuket and the surrounding provinces, as well as foreign tourists, while meeting Bumrungrad International Hospital standards. Bumrungrad initiated this to help support the Thai Government in their goal of being a top Asian medical and wellness destination—although many countries already acknowledged Thailand to be one. The reputation of being a top medical destination will certainly generate more medical tourism, which is sure to help Thailand with economic growth.
