Bumrungrad International Hospital recently organized a press conference titled, “The Grand Opening of Cornea Transplant Center.” The hospital is the first private hospital in Thailand to house a center that provides complete corneal care and treatment, including the 2 primary methods of corneal transplantation: penetrating keratoplasty and lamellar keratoplasty. The benefits of corneal transplantation are that it improves visual acuity and corneal strength (for those with thin or perforated corneas), and that it can prevent secondary infection in those with severe corneal infections.
At the press conference, Ms. Artirat Charukitpipat, CEO of Bumrungrad International Hospital, gave the opening speech. Dr. Maytinee Sirimaharaj, Ophthalmologist and Chairperson of Department of Ophthalmology at Bumrungrad International Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngamjit Kasetsuwan, Cornea Specialist at Bumrungrad International Hospital and President of Cornea and Refractive Surgery Society of Thailand, and Dr. Teeravee Hongyok, Cornea Specialist at Bumrungrad International Hospital, together, shared their knowledge and expertise during the health talk session. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taveesin Tanprayoon, Chief Medical Officer, alongside the management team, were present at the press conference.
