Order Name:
Colistin MIC by Broth Microdilution

Clinical Information:
Clinicians are re-thinking to colistin as therapeutic option for the treatment of severe infections caused by multidrug-resistant microorganisms, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales. However, colistin-resistant strains are worldwide disseminated leading to the need to determine the value of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) befor the drug is prescribes.

Interpretation:
CLSI breakpoint:
Pseudomonas aeruginosa ; I ≤ 2 ug/mL., R ≥ 4 ug/mL
Acinetobacter baumannii  ; I ≤ 2 ug/mL., R ≥ 4 ug/mL
Enterobacterales ; I ≤ 2 ug/mL., R ≥ 4 ug/ml
