  • If during the colonoscopy the doctor believes there may be abnormal tissue, a sample will be sent to pathology. The additional charge is approximately 35,000 THB.

Women's Cancer and Genetics Screening 

 

There may be abnormalities that are resulted from your genes

The Cancer Screening analyzes sequence of 61 genes related to inherited cancers.
For example
  • BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are related to breast cancer and ovarian cancer
  • APC gene is  related to colon cancer, etc.  
This test can predict the risk for 10 different inherited cancers as below
  1. Breast cancer   
  2. Colorectal cancer   
  3. Cutaneous melanoma   
  4. Gastric cancer   
  5. Ovarian cancer   
  6. Pancreatic cancer   
  7. Prostate cancer   
  8. Renal cell cancer   
  9. Thyroid cancer   
  10. Uterine cancer



The test is suitable for

  1. Individuals have a family or personal history as follows:
  • Cancer at age younger than 50 years old
  • Multiple cancers in one person
  • Family member with cancer one or more relatives with these 10 cancers
  • Breast Cancer in Male
  • Confirmed inherited cancer in your family
    2. For healthy female without a personal or family history of cancer who are interested to know their personal risk for having genetic cancer.

Preparing to undergo the program
  1. Please do not consume food or drinks except plain water for at least 12 hours prior to beginning your program.
  2. Please refrain from alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to beginning your program.
  3. Scheduling your appointment a week before or after your period is generally the best time.
For genetic sample collection
Do not eat, drink (including water), smoke, chew gum, or brush your teeth for 60 minutes prior to collecting your sample.

For colon screening with colonoscopy, patients are required to:
  1. Refrain from eating vegetables, fruits, or other high-fiber foods for 1-2 days.
  2. The doctor may also have you take a laxative to clear your intestines prior to your screening
  3.  Refrain from taking antithrombotic medications for 3-7 days prior to your screening (depending on the dosage and type of medication). Based on doctor's recommendations.
For ultrasound whole abdomen
 The abdominal ultrasound requires a full bladder for best results. Plenty of water to drink will be provided.

For mammogram & breast ultrasound
  1. Do not wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under axillary area or on your breasts on the day of the exam. These can interfere with mammogram results.
  2. If you have completed mammograms in other location, please obtain your prior mammograms and provide them to the radiologist at the time of appointment. This will alow for the comparison of mammograms over time.
For cervical cancer screening (Co-testing)
  1. Do not douche before the test.
  2. Do not use any vaginal suppositories, creams, or spermicide 48 hours before testing.
  3. Do not have sexual intercourse at least  24 hours before testing.
