Pneumococcal Vaccination
Pneumococcal infection, namely Pneumococcus, is commonly found in adults 65 years and older. Infections found in healthy adults are usually not severe, but for young children, elderly people, and people with compromised immune systems, the virus may cause severe pneumonia, which could be fatal. Therefore, people over 65 are recommended to receive the pneumococcal vaccine.




There are two kinds of pneumococcal vaccines:
  1. Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (Pneumovax 23)
  2. Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Prevnar 13)

Recommended Groups
People 65 and over (those who are younger than 65 and have a chronic condition must have a medical consultation before the vaccination).


Vaccination Schedule for adult’s age ≥ 65 years
  • Inoculation with each, Prevnar 13 and Pneumovax 23, is recommended.
  • If Prevnar 13 is given first, an interval of 8 weeks is required before receiving Pneumovax 23. 
  • If Pneumovax 23 is given first, an interval of one year is required before receiving Prevnar 13.

 

Terms and conditions

  • The Pneumococcal Vaccination (Pneumovax 23) Adult excludes additional outside service fee for nursing service fee and transportation fee.
  • *Purchasing 5 or more Pneumococcal Vaccination (Pneumovax 23) Adult @Home Packages, transportation fee of 500 THB are waived.
  • This service is available in Bangkok and immediate vicinity only.
  • To book an appointment or for more information, please contact

  • Vaccination will be administered by physicians or nurses working under Bumrungrad International Hospital only. Requests for self-administration or administration at other facilities are not permitted.
  • History of food, drug and vaccine allergy will be requested before administration. In case of any contraindication to Pneumococcal Vaccination (Pneumovax 23), the administration will be omitted and shall be fully refunded.
  • This package may not be used insurance direct billing agreements, nor may not be combined with any other offers, discounts, corporate partner discounts, or promotions.
  • Prices are valid until 31 December 2022.
  • The service is available 365 days from the date of purchase.
