CHANGE BEGINS AT HOME

Maria wants to save the world. Quite a statement, but it’s clear to see that she knows one very important thing about changing the world: every little voice counts. It goes without saying we have to fix a lot more than soap in order to save our world, but Maria knows that every day people wash their hands and their bodies using chemical-filled soaps that are eventually polluting our oceans, as well as damaging our bodies. This is partly why she’s committed to providing her community an alternative to chemicals. For Maria, creating 100% natural and chemical-free soaps and cosmetic products is an act of love.

ONLY THE BEST AND THE CLEANEST PRODUCTS

As a rule, 99% of the ingredients in every product at Bangkok Soap Opera is edible. This is obviously not to say that they make food items that double as personal care products, but that they strictly follow the ethos that if you can eat it, then it’s safe to put on your skin. That’s why everything they make is completely free of synthetic colorants, scents, preservatives, and parabens. It’s soap that has an expiration date, made with tools that were also handmade, following the same old traditions of extractions and infusions. When she’s not making soaps, Maria engages her local community by organizing workshops to educate people on making cosmetics at home, using natural ingredients.

SEE FOR YOURSELF

When asked how he feels about the future, Mr. Bramot turns somber, because he can see that the farming way of life is being lost. People are too far disconnected from their food source, opting instead for whatever is easily available. That’s why he sees it as his mission to pass on the knowledge of local sustainable food agriculture, and an understanding of the farmer’s contribution to society onto future generations.

COME AND VISIT US

Living in Bangkok, or anywhere else, is much more enriching when people come together to create strong communities. This is what we aim to do every year, by bringing local artisans and makers with the new and seasoned expats that call Bangkok their home.

Don’t miss your chance to engage more deeply with your community at this year’s Living in Bangkok event.
