Bumrungrad International Hospital offers a variety of birthing options for expectant mothers. If you are considering having a vaginal delivery with or without an epidural, we have two special delivery packages from which to choose from.
One might feel that a vaginal birth is what a woman’s body is designed to do. It is often the case that mothers who give birth naturally as opposed to a Cesarean birth have lower complications and a speedier recovery time. New mothers typically bond more easily with their newborn, initiate breast feeding sooner, and experience a shorter hospital stay.
For women who have had a prior Cesarean section but would like to carry out a natural birth, Bumrungrad has the skilled staff and necessary resources to perform a vaginal birth after a C-section (VBAC). There are several conditions that make expectant mothers candidates for this procedure such as the pregnancy is progressing normally, labor begins naturally, and you are not experiencing the complication that caused your previous Cesarean. Speak with you obstetrician to learn more about VBACs and see if this option is right for you.
Situations that prevent natural vaginal birth
In some cases, vaginal births are risky and therefore a Caesarean will be advised. These situations include if the mother suffers from a medical condition such as high blood pressure or diabetes or an infection that may be passed along to the baby. Additionally, if the baby is not in the head-down position or if the mother has a small pelvis and the baby is large, a Cesarean may be required. Your obstetrician will be able to tell you if you are a good candidate for a vaginal birth.
If you choose to have a vaginal delivery but complications unexpectedly occur, the safest option is to listen to the recommendations of your doctor and accept medical help. Our team of specialists, which include an obstetricians, pediatricians, and registered nurses, will guide you every step of the way and ensure the comfort of safety for both you and your baby.
