The heart is often called the body’s hardest working organ. It’s also the target of many serious threats, from heart muscle disorders and coronary heart disease to congenital heart defects and cardiac arrhythmia.

Unhealthy lifestyle habits – especially poor diets and lack of exercise – are the main causes of preventable heart problems. The Health Briefs feature on page 20 offers some useful tips for keeping your heart healthy and for preventing future heart problems.
