“500 Hearts” Makes Five-year Commitment to Help Thailand’s Neediest Heart Patients

Bumrungrad International and the Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation have joined forces with the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand and the National Health Security Office, to launch “500 Hearts,” a new five-year program providing heart surgeries at no cost to underprivileged patients in Thailand suffering from congenital and valvular heart disease. The program also includes public awareness initiatives to promote healthier living and increase quality of life.

Surgery to treat congenital and valvular heart disease, especially in children, requires a team of highly-trained medical professionals using advanced technologies. As a leading regional referral center for the treatment of heart disease, Bumrungrad International, along with the Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation, is contributing significant expertise and financial support to brighten the futures of needy children and adults throughout Thailand.

In 2003, Bumrungrad helped launch a series of no-cost heart surgery programs in conjunction with important milestones such as His Majesty the King’s birthday celebrations. In 2008, the program was expanded further to serve a growing number of needy children and adults.
