This past May 15, 2019 was a special day for Bumrungrad International Hospital, as the hospital celebrated DNA DAY 2019 with a special event.
Bumrungrad International Hospital is the first and only hospital in Thailand to partner and initiate a campaign with the US-based National Human Genome Research Institute. The goal of National DNA Day is to offer students, teachers, and the public an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the latest advances in genomic research, as well as explore how the advances may impact their lives.
Bumrungrad’s National DNA DAY 2019 event consisted of 2 main parts: the first was an educational session open to the public to help educate guests on the topic of DNA. It consisted of an educational walk-though display about DNA, doctor consultations regarding DNA testing, and a Facebook LIVE session titled “How DNA analysis can help predict future risk of conditions”. Dr. Kanin Tripipatsiriwat spoke during the FB LIVE session, which was held in the main lobby of the Bumrungrad International Hospital (BIH) Building.
The second part consisted of a medical conference titled “Bumrungrad’s DNA Day”. The conference involved a discussion around the Human Genome Project, as well as technology used in the study of genetics to better diagnose and prevent the onset of disease.
The conference was honored to have as guests, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornpun Sereemaspun, Director of the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, and Prof. Tony Lim of Singapore General Hospital, both of whom shared their time to guest lecture at the conference.
The event was held in Conference Room A-B of the Bumrungrad International Clinic (BIC) Building.
