Order Name:
Total metanephrines (U-24 hrs.)

Useful For:
Total metanephrines (Normetanephrine, Metanephrine and 3-methoxytyramine) are important parameters in the diagnosis of phaeochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, ganglioneuroma and melanoblastoma. Their analysis in addition to noradrenaline, dopamine, VMA and HVA, substantially reduce the risk of false positive results.

Order Name:
Total metanephrines (U-24 hrs.)

Clinical Information:
Total metanephrines including normetanephrine, metanephrine and 3-methoxytyramine are major metabolites of catecholamines: norepinephrine, epinephrine and Dopamine, respectively.

Reference Value:
Test Reference Value Unit
Normetanephrine <390 microgram/24 h
Metanephrine <320 microgram/24 h
3-metoxytyramine 80 - 270 microgram/24 h

Interpretation:
Increasing of total metanephrine should be found in patients with suspected catecholamine-secreting tumor including phaeochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, ganglioneuroma and melanoblastoma.
