Gastroscopy is a diagnostic procedure for treatment of problems in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract which includes the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
An endoscope in a flexible fiber optic tube with a miniature video camera and light attached to its end. It is safely inserted into the upper gastrointestine treat to examine the digestive wall and tissue.
Very sharp images on the screen display clear and minute details. In many cases, the gastroscopy provides a more accurate diagnosis compared to a traditional x-ray.
Gastroscopy provides assistance in determining a diagnosis for problems of difficulty in swallowing, pain in the stomach and possible bleeding, peptic ulcer and tumor.
